Pet Courtesy and reminder of a City Ordinance
Posted on Mar 21st, 2014

Dear Canewood Neighbors,

As the weather gets warmer, many of us will be taking our dogs for more walks in the neighborhood.  Please consider this email a request that you show courtesy to our neighbors and respect for the neighborhood by cleaning up after your dog.  No one should have to step in or around another dog’s waste on their property or on the sidewalks.  Also, please note that the HOA common areas are also not a place to leave behind waste from your dog.  In short, if it is not your individual property, then you must clean up after your dog.

In addition to being courteous and respectful, cleaning up after your pet is also required by a Georgetown City Ordinance, which reads “Sec. 3-32. Animal waste disposal: The custodian of every animal shall remove immediately any excreta deposited by his or her animal(s) on public walks, streets, recreation areas or private property belonging to another.  (Ord. No. 04-027, § 13, 11-18-04)”  Anyone who does not obey the city ordinance may be fined by the city.

Please help us keep Canewood clean by cleaning up after your pets and otherwise not polluting in the neighborhood.  Thanks for your help!
